Recognised for Retail Development Excellence
On Friday night (Friday 3 August 2018), Narellan Town Centre, one of the largest shopping centres in south western Sydney, won the 2018 UDIA (Urban Development Institute of Australia) NSW Award for Excellence in Retail Development.
The awards are designed to highlight innovation, sustainability, industry leadership and excellence in urban development across NSW and the ACT. Narellan Town Centre was one of ten finalists in their category.
Narellan Town Centre was recognised for stage 5 development which celebrated its first birthday on Saturday 4 August.
The development included the addition of 120 stores, an outdoor community plaza flanked with restaurants, a commercial centre and an architecturally designed retail bridge across Camden Valley Way. The development was designed to create a true ‘town centre’ for the local community.
A privately-owned joint venture by Greenfields Development Company and D Vitocco Constructions, Narellan Town Centre is the largest privately-owned shopping centre in Australia. Managed by Dart West Retail, the $200 million development commenced in April 2015 and saw the Centre double in size to over 70,000 square metres.
“The key objective of Narellan Town Centre was to create a vibrant retail environment for the local community which included unique architectural features and a community space where friends and family can gather in a relaxed and spacious environment.” commented Brad Page, General Manager of Dart West Retail.
This is the second major award win for Narellan Town Centre in the last month having been awarded the 2018 Urban Taskforce Award for Retail Development on Thursday 26 July 2018.
